WEEK #2: Achieved Stretch Goals, New Stretch Goals!

Hello Friends!

Again, I’d like to thank ALL OF YOU AMAZING BACKERS, for helping us to bring this project to reality. We are constantly blown away by your kindness, creativity and generosity!

As we begin the SECOND WEEK of the campaign, we are very excited to discuss the next level of stretch goals and several other things that are on the horizon.

Firstly, let’s talk about the stretch goals that we’ve hit! So far, you have stretched to reach some massive upgrades to the quality of the game. Standees have been added. The cards will be 310gsm black-core stock with a linen finish. All the boards and tracks will all be a thicker stock with a linen finish. The player dashboards will be double-layer board with holes to keep the wood tracking cubes from spilling all over the place when your cat/lizard/dog/ermine/sarkag jumps up onto the table to nose around.

In terms of new content, five HEROIC QUESTS and three SIDE QUESTS have been unlocked so far (with more set to be unlocked soon!), Six giant PRIME ANCIENT hex cards have been unlocked, and three difficult-to-beat creatures are now part of the game. One of the largest additions to the game thus far will be the new content provided in the ALTERNATE LOCATION and QUEST BOOKS.

The custom dice will replace the four existing red/white ‘pip’ dice in the game. If we hit the stretch goal we will also offer the option add additional sets of dice to your pledge as a LIMITED PROMOTION (meaning that they will be manufactured in a limited number and only sold at conventions and on our website but AVAILABLE TO BACKERS FIRST). We will post the 'custom dice' stretch goal later today and will revise it based on your dice choice TOMORROW!

Future stretch goals that we can confirm will be an organizational blow-molded BOX INSERT, a GAME SOUNDTRACK, and LEGENDARY ITEM packs. We currently have stretched to replace the character tokens with standees and we will introduce a goal to keep the character tokens in the game too. Finally, we are going to add several stretch goal HERO PACKS (a new hero, two items that they hold, a standee and an info card with their backstory).

Other goals that we are currently considering and sourcing include 'expanded solo content’, additional (special) action dice, and a few other surprises. We will keep you informed as the campaign progresses!

We also have several add-on, limited, promotional items (available to backers first!) in the works with partners...one of which has completely blown our minds. I’m not kidding, it is spectacular. We should be unveiling it later this week.

Our next update will be more ‘game design’ focused, discussing how the dual location/action guides will be used, giving more details on the Prime Ancients, and explaining the crafting mechanics found in the expansion in more detail.

Hello Everyone!

Funded in 2 hours! You are all awesome. I have to say, I am completely blown away by the show of support for our game. Thank you from everyone at Gilded Skull, and I personally thank you for supporting this true labor of love. 

You never know. I was so nervous hitting the 'LAUNCH PROJECT' button, knowing I've spent well over a year already working on Dark Venture. So much time drawing, writing, playing and replaying, testing...will it resonate with anyone? I can't tell you how happy I am that it has.

Looking ahead, please tell your friends and try to get more people involved. We have many more amazing things in store!

Bunker News: Thanks and Stretch Goals

Hello Friends!

It has been an amazing time for us! We’re sitting deep underground within the safe confines of the Gilded Skull bunker, exhausted, amazed and pumped. Firstly, I’d like to thank all of you for allowing us to make this game while also knocking out TEN stretch goals (almost...)! We (obviously) didn't think that we'd get this far so quickly. Incredible, because the game is going to be sweet: card quality will be top notch, 310gsm Black core with linen finish, weird creatures abound…

I’m going to pause here to talk about the 'stretch creatures’.

To be frank, these creatures that are being added to the game bring a heightened level of difficulty with them. The second you add them into your character deck, there’s going to be trouble. They are *tough*, almost the toughest things in the game (the 'toughest' title is currently held by the ‘Rhorgonkrul', the hulking beast that's in the graphic at the top of the Kickstarter page).

Dredmortis is unpredictable: Roll 2d6 and the highest die adds to his attack, the lowest adds to his defense. He has a power of 5 plus a possible 6, giving him a possible base hit damage of 11 plus another roll of a 1d6…to a hero with a health of 36 that is DANGEROUS.

Torgoneer is fetid. After his first attack, he ‘poisons’ his enemies with the rancidness of his diseased touch: The base health (and current health if necessary) of his victims is immediately reduced by 3d6. This can be very bad. You better hope to hit first or run because you are likely to fight this guy with a big disadvantage.

Grathorn has a temper. On his attack, roll 1d6 and if it’s 4 or higher, add this ‘rage’ to his damage. His damage ignores armor bonus (from armor, shields etc.). Also, his mutated skin is covered in bony, stone-like protrusions and any damage he receives from swords is reduced (by 4). Yikes.

Okay, so other stretch goals that were sailed past: The heavy hero dash (nice!), the standees add a lot to the game (the tokens are nice and compact but the standees are more visible), the ALTERNATE LOCATION AND QUEST BOOKS WOW! That’s a biggie and I’ll be sure to explain why in another, later, update. The ANCIENTS! They deserve a full explanation, delving into the nuance each adds to the game. Don’t forget the additional content that the new Heroic Quests and Side Quests add, new stories and motivations that also add flesh to the world!

There is more to come. We have some great stretch goals planned that we are putting the finishing touches on and we are also currently working on several partnerships to bring you some really great, Kickstarter only, custom, game-related items that will likely feature my weird drawings.
